Iterative Reconstruction Methods for High- Throughput PET Scanners
نویسندگان
چکیده
Iterative reconstructions for clinical PET must run fast. We describe a clinical processing method based on sinogram rebinning, Fourier rebinning for the 3D to 2D data reduction, and iterative reconstruction using the attenuation-weighted OSEM method with a projector based on a gaussian pixel model. When this approach is used, multi-bed clinical oncology scans can be ready for diagnosis within minutes.

FIRST: Fast Iterative Reconstruction Software for (PET) tomography.
Small animal PET scanners require high spatial resolution and good sensitivity. To reconstruct high-resolution images in 3D-PET, iterative methods, such as OSEM, are superior to analytical reconstruction algorithms, although their high computational cost is still a serious drawback. The higher performance of modern computers could make iterative image reconstruction fast enough to be viable, pr...

PET is a medical imaging modality with proven clinical value for disease diagnosis and treatment monitoring. The integration of PET and CT on modern scanners provides a synergy of the two imaging modalities. Through different mathematical algorithms, PET data can be reconstructed into the spatial distribution of the injected radiotracer. With dynamic imaging, kinetic parameters of specific biol...
متن کاملPET Image Reconstruction
Positron emission tomography (PET) scanners collect measurements of a patient’s in vivo radiotracer distribution. These measurements are reconstructed into cross-sectional images. Tomographic image reconstruction forms images of functional information in nuclear medicine applications and the same principles can be applied to modalities such as X-ray computed tomography. This chapter provides a ...

Positron emission tomography (PET) is a medical imaging modality that allows the detection of tissue with particular properties or the observation of metabolic processes in living organisms over time. It plays a vital role in cancer diagnosis and heart examination and represents a promising method for early diagnosis of dementia. With the advancement of scanner technology as well as an ever inc...
متن کاملFourier-Based Forward and Back-Projectors for Iterative Image Reconstruction
Iterative image reconstruction algorithms play an increasingly important role in modern tomographic systems, especially in emission tomography. With the fast increase of the sizes of the tomographic data, reduction of the computation demands of the reconstruction algorithms is of great importance. Fourier-based forward and back-projection methods have the potential to considerably reduce the co...
